5 Tips For Styling Your Coffee Table
use a decorative tray
Decorative trays are so much more useful than they’re given credit for. They help break up the surface space and provide a focal point for your coffee table. Trays make grouping elements together easy, and they add a sense of intentionality to the design. Things aren’t just plopped down on the table. They’re carefully curated and placed into this fancy tray! Look at you!
2. Incorporate plants or fresh cut flowers
Plants are basically the design equivalent of salt. Put em on anything, and they make it better. You can use taller fresh cut flowers to add some height to the space, or a smaller succulent to minimize the upkeep. You really can’t go wrong with plants.
3. add books to create levels and groupings
Books and coffee tables go together, like mornings and coffee! Pretty sure coffee tables were invented for books (don’t quote us on that). Stacking a few books on your coffee table and setting a candle or other small items on them makes a nice grouping and visually breaks up your coffee table.
4. add an unexpected element
In this case, they added a wooden bead garland to the coffee table, but you can explore your creativity here and go wild! Add a unique figurine, or a sentimental item, or whatever your heart desires. The world is your oyster, and the coffee table is your playground! Go nuts.
5. when in doubt, keep it simple!
You don’t need to have a ton of stuff on your coffee table for it to look styled and intentional. Sometimes one or two well-placed items will do the trick! Editing is so important in design, and sometimes the solution to your design woes is less, not more. If the coffee table doesn’t look quite right or how you imagined, first try taking something away. Embrace the negative space, and enjoy your chic new decor.
