Design Inspiration from Around The Web (Kitchen Edition)
A Few of Our Favorites
Kitchens have always been a big deal, but events of recent months *cough pandemic* have made them feel like an even bigger deal. I’m not too big on cooking, other than the occasional pasta I typically stick to the microwave or the take-out menu (healthy I know) but with more time at home many of us have had to make the reluctant move from the no cook zone. When you’re working from home, staying at home, and basically never leaving home you see a lot of your kitchen. This brings us to kitchen design. I’ve collected some inspiration from around the internet to inspire renovations small and large!
Everywhere you look online, it seems like pastel kitchens are having a moment. This light and airy house-boat kitchen uses pastels to make the room feel a little roomier and the design seems to fit naturally with the outside world surrounding their house (boat).
This kitchen uses an unexpected cut out in the design to lead into the living room and connect the space to the rest of the house. I love all the earthy tones & shapes here! (and of course we’re big fans of farm house sinks here at PCS!)
This kitchen design plays off of 70's style kitchens but brings elements from that time into our current trends. Instead of leaning on the darker colors of the past, it plays with color splashes but keeps it mostly light and open. It's a clean, modern take on 70's style when kitchen design got a little, well, weird.
Here are those pastels again! Blush seems to be the color that just won’t quit (in a good way). It first popped on the scene a few years ago. People started calling it ‘Millennial pink’ sometime around 2016. Scientists did studies to figure out why we’re all so obsessed with it, but the studies were inconclusive at best. We may never know why the world went nuts for this color for four years straight or why we’re still going nuts for it, but hey, it’s pretty! Let’s just hope that if one day blush goes wildly out of style, our kids will go easy on us.
We're seeing a lot of waterfall edges in modern kitchen design, and at PCS we love this trend! This one appears to be marble, but concrete is the perfect material for a stunning waterfall-edge island. Concrete is beautiful, easy to clean, and built to last. I'm just saying. This kitchen brings in some darker colors and relies mostly on clean lines and utility. Not a lot of knick-knacks here, but that's probably because the minimal design speaks for itself.
Open-concepts really seem to be the way of the future! This kitchen uses warm natural textures to create an inviting atmosphere. This looks like the kind of kitchen you could slip your shoes off and sit on the countertop sipping wine with your closest friends!
