Kitchen Island With a Design Surprise

The Element of Surprise

We created a custom island with a special surprise design element built-in! We love it when we’re able to surprise our clients by adding in a little something special just for them. This island was crafted for Brianna Michelle Interior Design. She and her team are always so wonderful and supportive of our work, and we continuously strive to earn that support by delivering our absolute best.

We spent a lot of late nights pushing to get the project just right. Somewhere in the midst of burning the midnight oil, a stroke of inspiration struck! Some of the best ideas come in the middle of the night, after all. We wanted to add a surprise element to this island piece that wouldn’t be immediately visible but would add that little something extra to up-level our design.

The drawer of secrets

We soon realized that the drawer insert we built would provide the perfect avenue for our surprise element!

We used a material called Plateall which for non-technical folks is basically like a metal material you can spray, pretty crazy stuff! We sanded it, and polished it but left a little texture in there for a funkier finish!

We couldn’t send the piece off without letting our trusty pup-inspector, Boone, give it the once-over. Once Boone gave us the paw of approval, it was time to deliver the piece to Brianna and her team! We hope they’ll enjoy it for many years to come.

P.s. what do you think of our brass-plated drawer? Let us know in the comment section :)
