6 ways to use Concrete in the Home

Our Favorite Uses for Concrete in the Home

We’ve started to see concrete gaining a lot of ground in the design industry over the past few years. Concrete used to be reserved for basements and workshops, but now It’s not unusual to see a concrete countertop on your favorite home makeover show! There are a ton of amazing ways to use concrete to add texture and depth to your designs. Here are our top 6 favorite ways to incorporate concrete in the home!

1. Fireplace Surround

Fireplace surrounds are an incredible place to incorporate some natural stone into your home. Concrete can take your fireplace from being just a fireplace to the focal point of the room.

2. Kitchen Countertops & Islands

The kitchen is one of the best places to incorporate concrete into your home! Concrete countertops are durable, and they don’t stain or scratch easily making them the perfect material for even the most avid cookers and spillers. We all have likely experienced the horror of the wine ring that instantly ruins those Formica countertops or that little slip of the knife that leaves a forever scratch on your favorite marble top. Concrete gives you design versatility with that durable surface that makes your kitchen space more functional than ever. You shouldn’t be afraid to mess up your countertops, your countertops should be built for the life you live.

3. bathroom sinks and vanities!

Bathrooms are often overlooked when it comes to your average home design. We tend to thing of them as just necessity rooms, until that space is elevated and it becomes not just the place we quickly brush our teeth, but a relaxing space we actually enjoy. The vanity can play a huge role here. If you change the look of the sink, you make a huge impact on the rest of the space! Here are a few bathrooms we think are totally getting it right.

5. Floors

Even though we don’t take on too many concrete floor projects anymore, we can still appreciate what they bring to a space! it’s a clean, modern, industrial look that (let’s be honest) hides dirt reallyyyy well. We’re not saying your floors are dirty but if the floor allows you to skip a day or two of mopping, we are all for it!

Of course we are all about a concrete tub! Concrete tubs provide an elevated look, and are super comfy to settle in and have a nice long soak. They’re durable, easy to clean, and very luxurious!
